Town Clerk Moves On
Bridport Town Clerk Will Austin will be leaving his position at the end of June after 7 years in post, Bridport Town Council has announced.
Will’s tenure has included some significant moments for the council, including the introduction of the Bridport Area Neighbourhood Plan and the Bridport Investment Plan, a programme of climate-related actions, leading the community response to Covid-19, addition of new services and assets including West Bay Discovery Centre and Bridport WI Hall, and in 2024 a doubling in the size of the council’s area of responsibility.
Will said “It has been a huge privilege to serve the town since 2018, and I am very proud of the council’s achievements in that time. We’re relatively small in town council terms, but we’ve punched way above our weight and were recently recognised as one of the nation’s five best councils. The time has come for me to seek out a new direction, but I will look back fondly on some great times with some wonderful colleagues. I’ll remain a Bridport resident, to enjoy everything our fantastic town has to offer.”
Recruitment of Will’s successor has begun, and details of the vacancy will be available at https://www.bridport-tc.gov.uk/about/job-vacancies/ from 18 March 2025. Will adds “I’m happy to be contacted by anyone who’s interested in taking on my role – call 01308 456722 or email [email protected]“.
